Ornstein, Leo
(1892-2002)
   American musician, of Russian origin. Born in Kremetchug, Russia, he studied at the St Petersburg Conservatory. His family emigrated to the US in 1907 and he studied at the New England Conservatory and the Institute of Musical Art in New York. From 1911 to 1933 he gave concerts throughout the US as well as in other countries. In 1935 he became head of the piano department of the Zeckwen Hahn School in Philadelphia, and later established the Ornstein School of Music.
